Lighting Reviews so you don't get Ripped Off

Independent Reviews

Our reviews are based on the personal opinion of our lighting experts.  They are drawn from over 100 years of combined industry experience.  They are based on our opinion only, and our goal is to be as honest and fair as possible.

Some might say our reviews are all positive. Here is why you might think that. If a brand is so bad that we “can’t say anything nice” then we probably won’t “say anything at all” (just like Mom taught you!). So we really don’t review bad brands in the first place.   If a brand has been reviewed by us, then it likely has met our minimum standards of performance and style, so it will likely receive higher marks.

If you are a lighting manufacturer and would like us to review your brand, please send us your request inside of a briefcase full of cash. (jk!)  Our reviews cannot be influenced by money, but say if we were to get busy with a staff member at the company in question, hey, it couldn’t hurt.  In all seriousness, we will do our best to maintain independent evaluations.  If you disagree with any of our review, or feel any user reviews unfairly portray your products, feel free to Contact us.

I bought two swing arm, wall mount light fixtures through Great Indoors. The lamps are are poorly assembled and do not mount securely. The threaded pipe on one was too long and had to be adjusted to get the cover to fit flush. The screws for the cap nuts were too long and had to be cut to shorten so that the cap nuts would fit flush against the fixture. When mounted, the fixture rocks on the wall – especially not good for a fixture that has a swing arm.

I am currently having a real problem getting MAXIM lighting to honor its warranty. I purchased a Maxim Lighting under cabinet light last year. Packaged with the light, was a written 25 year limited warranty. The same 25 year limited warranty is posted on Maxim’s website. The light failed last week, and now Maxim is simply refusing to honor its obligation. I would stay clear of Maxim lights until you are certain they will back their products. I plan report them to my state Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, as well as give them negative reviews on every lighting review site I can post to. And I will do this until they honor their obligation.
