Murray Feiss Lighting Review

Murray Feiss Lighting Rating: Murray Feiss Lighting is a good choice if you are looking to upgrade either the inside or the outside of your home. Murray Feiss himself started the company 50 years ago, and he still oversees the manufacture of all sorts of lamps, fixtures, mounts, chandeliers, sconces, ceiling lights and, interior and exterior lights for your office, or your home. We like how Murray Feiss incorporates several natural, geometric shapes and textures into their products, giving modern style that “organic” feel. But what impresses us the most about Murray Feiss is that they manufacture products with both form and function in mind, which means that your new light will not only look like it was custom-designed just for you, it will deliver the right amount of light to fill your room. A team of devoted lighting professionals make sure that their products are made with beautiful design and exceptional quality. You can be sure that your new Feiss outdoor lantern is both beautiful and durable.

Insider tip: Although Murray Feiss is best known for being one of the leading designers when it comes to exterior lighting, we also recommend you check out their interior collections. They have some of the best variety of lamps and fixtures that you can easily match and mix together. If you would like to purchase their products at a lower cost, we suggest you inquire for sales.

Caution#1: We suggest that upon purchase, you carefully check your manual and inspect that you are going home with all the right stuff in your box, as some consumers claim they brought home products with parts that don’t fit. And that is something we like to avoid; you would not want to leave the store with the wrong pieces to your new fixture. Maybe this is a result of poor instructions, but we have found most lighting instructions to be less than helpful.

Caution#2: Make sure ALL the items you want are in stock and available to ship. Murray Feiss has had long lead times lately when they are out of stock. Ask if the date you are given is “confirmed” or just “estimated.” You don’t want to order 5 items and have to wait 5 months for the last one to arrive.

Bottom line: Murray Feiss Lights and home fixtures is a great choice for practical users, mixing different designs with different lifestyles. And with collaborations from different design icons (Martha Stewart and Bob Mackie, to name a few), we can almost be certain that the product we get from them is made with careful attention to fashion, as well as function.

Beware misleading images on their website. I ordered 4 items out of their Kinsey collection, and the glass shades (described as “Shiny Cream” by MF) look more like “Coffee with Cream”. Check out this comparison:

I’m working with their distributor to either send the correct color shades or accept the return.

We ordered exterior lights, both wall and surface mounted lights and waited months for them to be made and shipped from China. The wall mounts came after 3 months and the surface or pier mounted came a month later. The style that we bought was OL3408CB. It has a prairie style look to it what went well with our house. The wall mounted lights were no problem. The surface mountings consisted of a rectangular pedestal that was designed to fit on a 6″x 6″ pier or on a wooden flat surface. Mounting the lamps on a brick surface (our situation) proved a challenge. But it was doable. What doesn’t come with the lamps were any fasteners. None to attache it to a wooden pier (certainly none to attach it to a brick wall) and none to connect the lamp to the pedestal. You would have thought there would have been something but nothing. Maybe we got a bad pack job when it left the factory.
